Emeli Sande: pop superstar to play Scarborough Open Air Theatre in 2018
Four BRIT awards; two UK number one albums; and an MBE for her services to music, Scottish singer and songwriter supreme Emeli Sande has quickly become one of the most popular artists in pop music.
Rising to prominence after featuring on the track "Diamond Rings" by the rapper Chipmunk, Sande has since had two UK number-one singles ("Read All About It" with Professor Green and "Beneath Your Beautiful", a collaboration with Labrinth), performed in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympics, while her debut album Our Version of Events spent ten non-consecutive weeks at number one and – with over one million sales – became the best-selling album of 2012 in the UK.
Following a four-year studio gap, Emeli had a huge return to the music industry with her second album Long Live The Angels. It was 2016's fastest-selling album from a British female solo artist and peaked at number-two on the Official Albums Chart. And after again thrilling crowds with a brilliant set of classics and new material during her slots at Glastonbury and BBC Live in Hyde Park in 2017, Sande saw out 2017 with a massive arena concert tour around the UK. She was joined on tour by Calum Scott, who had the UK's best-selling song of the summer in 2016 with "Dancing On My Own", and was announced as Emeli's support act. The former Britain's Got Talent finalist, who is currently putting the finishing touches to his debut studio album, was described by Emeli as "an incredible talent" and joined her on the Long Live the Angels Arena Tour last October.
Emeli plays Scarborough Open Air Theatre in the summer of 2018, with the likes of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Script, Gary Barlow and Alfie Boe all set to feature during the venue's 2018 outdoor season. So what are you waiting for? Buy Emeli Sande tickets at StubHub UK today.
Emeli Sande: singer/songwriter supreme
Now known as a top recording artist in her own right, Sande first made her name behind the scenes, writing tunes for the likes of Susan Boyle, Tinie Tempah and Alesha Dixon, before finally moving in front of the mic in 2009. After first signing with Virgin Records, she went to EMI in early 2011, dropping her first name, Adele, from her stage moniker in favour of 'Emeli' – mainly due to the growing success of the identically-named Tottenham songstress.
