Earth, Wind & Fire Tickets
Earth, Wind & Fire to visit UK in 2018
With more than 100 million record sales to their name, American soul group Earth, Wind and Fire created some of the most iconic music of a generation by incorporating elements of funk, jazz, disco and pop into their hit-making song machine. The funk-fusion super group changed the face of popular music at the peak of their fame, and have entertained audiences for over five decades with their extensive back catalogue of Grammy Award-winning material. Classic hits such as "September" and "Boogie Wonderland" still draw people to the dance floor today, while 2014 album Holiday and their performance at then-President Obama's White House prove their continued relevance in the modern landscape.

Earth, Wind & Fire: masters of funk, soul and disco pop
Maurice White, Wade Flemons and Don Whitehead first came together as songwriters in the late 1960s before scoring a record deal as 'Salty Peppers'. Drawing on astrological elements to come up with a band name, they finalised a ten-strong formation with the recruitment of a further seven instrumentalists and vocalists before releasing their self-titled debut album in 1971. It was a critical hit, as was follow-up LP The Need of Love, which spawned their first top 40 single "I Think About Lovin' You". After transitioning to Columbia Records and embracing the funk-driven sound that would become their trademark, it was 1974 release Open Our Eyes that brought the group true commercial success. They were on a roll, and 1975's That's the Way of the World shot straight to the top of the Billboard album charts, with single "Shining Star" earning the band a first Grammy Award. Becoming known for their extravagant live performances, the band's use of lasers, pyrotechnics and production tricks wowed audiences, before live album Gratitude proved their mass appeal; selling over three million copies in the US alone.
In the late 1970s, the group released iconic singles "September" and "Boogie Wonderland", as well as two more smash hit albums: I Am and Faces. They were flying, and were regularly hailed for pushing the boundaries of pop music. The 1980s arrived with new musical trends, meaning the collective's sound had to evolve once more. Incorporating an electronic element into backing tracks, the results were Grammy Award-winning singles such as "Wanna Be With You" and the popular "Let's Groove". After years of extensive touring, the band took a break to focus on solo projects before reuniting for Touch the World in 1987. Millennium eventually followed in 1993 but the next year, Maurice White announced his decision to retire from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Albums The Promise (2003) and Illumination (2005) brought the group into a more contemporary arena, with the latter featuring a jazzy collaboration with Kenny G. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, White continued to make occasional appearances alongside his old band mates, guiding the release of 2013 album Now, Then & Forever before sadly passing away in early 2016.
The group continue to make music and tour their classic back catalogue, so make sure you grab Earth, Wind & Fire tickets now at StubHub.
