Dave Chappelle Tickets
Dave Chappelle: Grammy-winning comedian at the top of his game
It's been a whirlwind couple of years for the king of comedy. Dave Chappelle held a three-week residency in San Francisco at the beginning of 2016, with whistle stops at other huge stateside venues in Los Angeles, Wisconsin and New York, before a brilliant four-night stint at London's Electric Brixton.
In November 2016 Netflix then announced that they would be releasing three new stand-up comedy specials from Chappelle in 2017, with Chappelle being paid $20 million per special. The first two specials were filmed at Austin City Limits Live in April 2015 and at the Hollywood Palladium in March 2016 and proved to be an immediate success; with Netflix announcing a month later that they were the most viewed comedy specials in the company's history.
Shortly before the release of the third special, Netflix announced that they had expanded the deal to include a fourth special. Dave Chappelle: Equanimity and Dave Chappelle: The Bird Revelation, were released on 31 December 2017, and were filmed in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles in September and November 2017 respectively. As if all that wasn't enough, Chapelle then won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album in January 2018.
Primarily based in the US, Chappelle's UK shows always sell out quickly; so keep your eyes peeled for tour dates and buy Dave Chappelle tickets at StubHub.
Dave Chappelle: 20 years of top comedy
Growing up in Washington DC, Chappelle was known for his comedic timing and frank observations from an early age, and always had aspirations for a career in comedy. After moving to New York in the early 90s, he garnered enough confidence to attempt the ultimate New York rite of passage: performing Amateur Night at Harlem's Apollo Theater. He was booed off the stage, but it spurred him on to continue entertaining. At 19, he landed his first film role, playing Achoo in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men In Tights.
Several years later, The Chappelle Show made its debut on Comedy Central. Along with skits and parodies, it featured hip-hop and R&B performances, and ran for two full seasons. The success of the show made it difficult for the comedian to continue his stand-up career, and he abruptly ended the show in its third season.
During his stand-up shows, Chappelle tackles topics ranging from cultural events to important issues such as racism, sexism and politics. He's known to address some of the most controversial stories in the news during his sets, and present them in an entertaining (though not always politically correct) way. Like those of many iconic entertainers before him, his gigs are relatively simple, getting to the bare bones of comedy without need for showy graphics or an over-enthusiastic announcer.
