This Leeds singer got her first taste of music at her church, where the youth leader led aspiring singers through original songs and covers - including Primal Scream numbers tastefully adapted for the audience. She formed an indie act and started playing the Leeds circuit, attracting the attention of a US label whose other clients included Slipknot. However the group ended up disbanding and the deal disappeared unsigned, leading Bailey Rae to go down a more mellow solo path.

Her debut album, released in 2006 and featuring the single 'Like a Star', shot to number one in the UK and the top ten in the US. From there she's never looked back, building on her success with a beautiful collection of work which has earned her more major awards and nominations than many could dream of.
