Brittany Howard – a highly awarded singer

Born in Alabama in 1988, Brittany Howard had an early interest in music and started playing the guitar when she was a teenager, and then teaching herself how to play a variety of instruments including drums and bass. She was one of the founders of the band Alabama Shakes in 2009, and was from the very beginning the lead singer, a guitar player, and the main songwriter. Their first album ‘Boys & Girls’ received multiple nominations for the Grammy Awards, while their second album ‘Sound & Colour’ reached number 1 position in the Billboard 200. Brittany Howard is also associated with a couple of other groups as side projects, Thunderbitch, which was formed in 2012 and released an album in 2015, and Bermuda Triangle, which was formed in 2017. Throughout the years, she gained recognition as a singer and won 4 Grammy Awards for her work with the Alabama Shakes. She also did a few solo appearances which included singing ‘Get Back’ as a duet with Paul McCartney at the Lollapalooza Festival in 2015, and did a guest appearance in John Legend‘s song ‘Darkness and Light’. In 2019, Brittany Howard released her first solo album entitled ‘Jaime’, out of which her song ‘Stay High’ reached the number 1 position on the US AAA charts, while her song ‘History Repeats’ was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards in 2020, including ‘Best Rock Song’ and ‘Best Rock Performance’.
