A brief glance at BK Hacken

Bollklubben Hacken was started by a group of teenagers with a dream of creating an official football club. With assistance provided by the local association, it was officially launched in August of 1940. As a small club it competed at the local level but always kept its eye on growing in stature. The first thirty years of its existence saw the club drift between the lower Swedish divisions. The 1980s would witness Hacken, led by legendary manager Agne Simonsson, finally advance to the Allsvenskan. There it would compete with the likes of Djurgardens IF and Malmö FF. The subsequent decade was spent bouncing between the first and second divisions as the club struggled with consistency at the staff and team levels. Things would turn around in the new millennium with their return to the Allsvenskan in 2010, where they have since remained. The club and its fans have enjoyed good fortune during the last few years, highlighted by the team's participation in Europe's second tier club tournament four times in the last ten years. In 2016, the Hacken experienced their first taste of success with a Swedish Cup victory, defeating Malmö FF to secure the title. Calling Bravida Arena home, Getingurna (The Wasps) are a team on the rise. A recent fourth place finish in the top flight has sharpened their appetite for further victories at home and abroad. Fans of the Wasps remain proud of their club and its strong ties to the community: initiatives such as "Football Friday" are meant to engage the youth into a growing football tradition.
