Growing up in small-town Napanee, Ontario left a big impression on this pint-sized popster. She started singing young and had her first taste of fame in 1999 when she won a competition to perform with country superstar Shania Twain. At 17 she became the youngest female soloist to reach Number One in the UK with her 2002 debut album Let Go, which also topped the charts around the world. She darkened her sound for her second album Under My Skin in 2004, with signature power ballads 'Don't Tell Me' and 'My Happy Ending' showing a new maturity in her music. Third record The Best Damn Thing saw her change musical direction again with punk-pop track 'Girlfriend', which sold more than 7 million copies and scooped multiple MTV and Teen Choice Awards.
