AS Saint-Etienne Tickets
AS Saint-Etienne - Ligue 1's most successful club
Ask most casual football fans, "Who has won the most Ligue 1 titles?" and the answers would likely be Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille or Lyon. However, it's the team nicknamed Les Verts, AS Saint-Etienne, who holds the impressive record, having won their tenth championship back in 1981. AS Saint-Etienne tickets are available to buy and sell on StubHub for both their away fixtures and home matches at the 42,000-capacity Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
The giants of 20th century French football
Formed in 1919 by a group of grocery store chain employees, AS Saint-Etienne turned professional in 1933, when they became runners-up of the inaugural Division 2 South. They rose to greatness in the post-war era, winning their first trophy, the Coupe Charles Drago, in 1955 and then their first league title two years later, both under former player Jean Snella. The club added the Coupe De France to their trophy haul in 1962, and over the following decade, they achieved an astonishing three league and cup doubles. AS Saint-Etienne very nearly became their homeland's first ever European Cup winners in 1976 but narrowly lost out to Bayern Munich in a hotly-contested final. Captained by one of French football's most iconic players, Michel Platini, the club lifted their record-breaking tenth title in 1981 to assert their status as the 20th Century giants of Ligue 1.
