Football pride of the Turkish Med: Antalyaspor
Antalyaspor, as its name suggests, is a professional football team from the Turkish city of Antalya. Its famous red and white colours adorn buildings in the city whenever they play at home, in the Antalya Arena, which is a multi-purpose stadium where you can catch the odd rock concert, too. They play in the Super Lig, which is the first tier of Turkish football, and have enjoyed success in all the local competitions, as well as making the odd foray into Europe. So brush up on your Turkish football by buying or selling Antalyaspor tickets on StubHub.
Battling their way to the top of Turkish football
Antalyaspor began life in 1966—the same year that England won the world championship, let it never be forgotten. They spent a few years in the lower leagues until they earned promotion to the top league in Turkey in the 1982–1983 season, which was their only appearance at this level for the next decade as they were relegated in the very next year. It took a long drought of top flight football spent in the TFF First League that lasted until 1993. Once they were back they took things a lot more seriously, if their results are anything to go by. They placed high in their division and made it to the finals of the premier cup competition in the country, the Turkish Cup. Here they lost to the dominant Turkish powerhouse of the time, the legendary Galatasaray. Europe beckoned soon after that, and helped to create a legacy that is still celebrated today, as you'll find out with Antalyaspor tickets.
Forays into the European arena of football
Antalyaspor has played in the European competitions on a few occasions on the back of successful seasons, although they only managed a single win at the time, which was at the expense of SV Werder Bremen. So after a somewhat hesitant start, they've become local heroes in their home city and they regularly attract full houses—which means that when you get Antalyaspor tickets you'll be in a footballing cauldron containing around 30,000 passionate fans. Noise levels are high, as is the excitement, with staunch rivalries playing out on the pitch and much fervour in the stands, without any unwelcome aggression. If you're a fan of Turkish football, or if you're just looking for an introduction, look out for tickets that feature this popular team, right here on StubHub.
