Formerly going under the psuedonym Breezy Lovejoy, Anderson .Paak's real name is actually Brandon Paak Anderson. Born in Oxnard, California, though Anderson .Paak's official career occurred in 2009, he was actually producing music as a teenager from his bedroom. Marrying his second wife when he teaching at a music school, the artist soon found he would be supporting his wife an son when he lost his job abruptly, forcing him and his family to live without a home. Fortunately Anderson .Paak's break came in 2011, when he met Alt hip-hop group Sa-Ra's Shafiq Husayn, who hired .Paak as a multi-talented assistant (along with assistant work the job included the roles videographer, editor, writer and producer). Despite all of this, .Paak managed to record and release his debut LP as Breezy Lovejoy O.B.E. Vol. 1 the year later, paying the bills by being a drummer for American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart.
Releasing an all-cover EP, Cover Art, was hailed for its reversal of 1950s classics, changing them from folk rock tracks to soul, jazz and hip-hop songs.
