American Idiot tells the story of Tunny, Will and Johnny: three young men living in suburban America. Frustrated with their small town life, the friends decide to leave for the more enticing big city. However, Will's plans are dampened after finding out that his girlfriend is pregnant. Upon reaching the city Tunny finds that he is unable to fit in with urban life and decides to join the army instead. Meanwhile, Johnny finds love, drugs and a tempting new side of himself waiting for him in the city.
