Adam Torres tour dates
Adam Torres is an American singer/songwriter known for his modern-day folk sound, which he performs for a whole new generation of music lovers. His falsetto soars over acoustic percussion, and violins and piano complement his warm vocals. The Adam Torres tour is an intimate affair, with Torres and his band creating an authentic grassroots experience.
Adam Torres' background
Torres hails from Albuquerque, NM - a city known for its folk. He moved to West Chester, Ohio, studied at Ohio University, then joined folk-rock collective Southeast Engine, where he played guitar in the band.
Southeast Engine released their debut album, Love is a Murder, A Mystery of Sorts, in 2003. It features the songs "Fools Dilemma," "One Caught Fire" and "Things I Want Are Things I Need." Other releases - A Wheel Within A Wheel, From the Forest to the Sea, Coming to Terms with Gravity, etc. - cemented the group's legacy as folk-flavored rockers, and Torres' guitar skills proved popular with the band's fans.
In 2006, Torres released his first solo album. He drew on his experience as a member of Southeast Engine and experimented with various styles of music. Despite releasing just two albums, Torres is a celebrated figure in the folk genre.
Torres takes concert-goers on a journey, weaving a narrative into his live shows. He sings about life and death, love and redemption, nature and landscapes. His tender voice twangs over acoustic guitars, leaving an enamoured crowd wanting more.
Adam Torres' history
Torres' debut, Nostra Nova, was self-released in 2006. It was written in Switzerland, where his parents lived. The album's lyrics fluctuate from the personal to the surreal, and the 11-song set soon became a cult classic. Nostra Nova features songs like "Voices From the Top of the Mountain," "Things I've Learned From Bells" and "Now That It's Morning."
After generating critical buzz with Nostra Nova, Torres released his second collection, Pearls to Swine, in 2016. The album features the songs "Where I'm Calling From," "Mountain River" and "Some Beast Will Find You By Name." Pearls to Swine is a rich musical tapestry: one genre bleeds into the next, and the album lurches from melancholic sounds to ethereal, otherworldly rhythms. The set was recorded over a period of eight days in Austin, TX.
Adam Torres, an eponymous EP, bridges the gap between Nostra Nova and Pearls to Swine. The seven-song set is just as diverse as his studio sets, with a jumble of soundscapes that resonate with listeners. The EP includes the tracks "Song of November," Magic Girl" and "Sea of Love."
