Adam Lambert Biography - From American Idol to Megastardom
After moving to San Diego, this talented artist began performing with the Metropolitan Educational Theatre network from the age of nine and became heavily involved in the arts throughout the remainder of his childhood. He dropped out of college to pursue his dreams and landed a job performing on a cruise ship, which then proved a stepping stone to professional theatre roles, and helped him land a spot as the understudy for Fiyero in the US tour of Wicked. However, he started to move away from theatre in 2009 when he auditioned for the eight season of talent show American Idol. After breezing through the early stages of the competition with renditions of classic hits like Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody', he won plenty of fans with his extraordinary vocal talents and ended the process as runner up to Kris Allen.
Building on the momentum the show had created, the singer released his debut album For Your Entertainment in November 2009 and shot straight to number three in the Billboard 200. Second single 'Whataya Want From Me' was subsequently nominated for a Grammy Award. Promoting artistry and freedom of expression, the unique star embarked on a fantastical Glam Nation Tour, and by 2010 he was joining Queen on stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards to perform a medley of their greatest hits. The impressive vocalist dropped second album Trespassing in 2012, containing songs written by Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams, and gained critical acclaim along with a number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The following year would see him tour with Queen across the US and land a starring role in hit TV series Glee, from which his interpretation of Lady Gaga's 'Marry the Night' would go on to be a chart hit. Third album The Original High gave the singer his first UK hit, landing in the top ten and receiving immense praise from the British press.
His rapidly increasing popularity in the UK brought his world tour across the Atlantic, with a select number of dates in April 2016 including a headline slot alongside Queen at the Isle of Wight Festival. Grab Adam Lambert tickets now on StubHub to make sure you are in the front row.
