East meets west with Yuna
Once light-heartedly describing her music as a "cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay", Yuna, the stage name of Yuna Zarai, truly is an artist who crosses boundaries. Her light lyrical soprano voice is perfect for some enchanting, dreamy chill-out sounds, and she is praised by fans for her honest and sincere performances. Having started off writing songs in Malay and English, teaching herself to play guitar, then performing folk-pop songs in her late teens at local gigs in order to raise money while in law school, Yuna has broadened her horizons. Her style is now more edgy alternative soul, thanks in part to working with mentor Pharrell Williams in the USA. Following her breakout single Crush, performed with American artist Usher, her star is rising in Los Angeles. She performs both acoustic gigs and shows with a full band consisting of guitar, bass and drum players. Yuna is proud of her heritage; as a Muslim woman she performs on stage dressed modestly, covered chastely but stylishly from neck to foot, and wears a hijab. "I'm a Muslim, I don't try to hide it. I'm also a girl who loves music. And I don't try to hide that as well," says Yuna. Fall under her spell on StubHub, where you can purchase and sell Yuna tickets.

She also loves the music of Rihanna and Lauryn Hill and has already shared the big stage at Lollapalooza with acts such as Florence and the Machine and Jack White. At her live shows, you can hear this gifted diva reprise songs from her albums, such as Nocturnal and Chapter. Themes include contemporary issues like relationship break-ups, and she sings straight from the heart.
