Yeah Yeah Yeahs team up with Beck to announce one off Dublin gig in 2018

Bursting out on the New York scene in the early '00s, art-punk act Yeah Yeah Yeahs have become one of the biggest and most recognisable groups on the indie scene. Headed by enigmatic riot girl queen Karen O – known for her adrenaline-fuelled live performances – the threesome have carved a niche all of their own: a confrontational, raw and forceful revolution that you can dance to.

Following their 2013 album Mosquito, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back on tour with brand new material for the first time in four years and, to the delight of fans this side of Atlantic, have announced a huge, one off show with Beck in Dublin next year.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs: indie legends return after four year silence

Originally a folky duo called Unitard, the band were formed in the year 2000 by Karen Orzolek and Nicolas Zinner. Inspired by the spectacular avant-garde punk coming out of Ohio, the twosome shredded their folk-pop outfit and added third member Brian Chase to the lineup.

Within months of their very first rehearsal they had already earned a substantial underground buzz, helped in no small part by the patronage of fellow New Yorkers The Strokes. In 2003, their much awaited full-length debut Fever to Tell was released to critical and commercial acclaim, selling over 750,000 copies and launching the group into the international stratosphere.

They reunited again in 2005 to record sophomore album Show Your Bones, produced by Squeak E. Clean. Showcasing a more polished and mature sound, the album was released in spring 2006. Hitting number seven in the UK charts, it was hailed as a sonic step forward for the group and saw them play some of their biggest UK shows yet.

2009's critically acclaimed It's Blitz! re-established the group's reputation for cutting edge production and single "Heads Will Roll" combined their former punk glory with a newfound love for electro.

Fourth album Mosquito (2013) re-wrote the band's style once again, after which a four year gap followed. The YYYs released new material in October 2017, and have announced a one off show with Beck no less in Dublin on 23 May 2018.
