Vegalta Sendai Tickets
Vegalta Sendai: the "celestial stars" of the J1 League
Vegalta Sendai is a professional football team based in Sendai, in the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan. The club has bounced around the leagues a bit in its history, spending a good few years in the second division J2 league after relegation in 2004, until being promoted again in 2010. It's nonetheless a very popular and commercially successful team, so it's very worthwhile buying or selling Vegalta Sendai tickets on StubHub.
An ambitious little Japanese football club
Vegalta Sendai traces its history back to the late 1980s when it was founded as one of the corporate football clubs in Japan – the normal route for many teams that want to enter the professional sphere. It was known as Tohoku Electrical Power Co. Inc. Soccer Club, a sporting mouthful if ever there was. They debuted in the then-second-tier Japanese Football League, having spent their first years in the much smaller Tohoku local league. They moved on to the J-League when it was formed in 1999, and changed their name to Vegalta Sendai, having already earned the unofficial moniker of "Brummel Sendai" in the JFL. Eventually the club gained promotion to the top league in Japanese football, the J1 League, just losing out on topping the log in 2012 in a crucial loss to Albirex Niigata. They have always played out of Yurtec Stadium Sendai in Sendai, so if you're after Vegalta Sendai tickets, that's the first place to check. Unfortunately one hasn't always been able be able to catch games against their traditional rival, Montedio Yamagata, as that team has been sometimes relegated.
Football to the sounds of Kiss and Twisted Sister
A Vegalta Sendai home game is always an unusual affair for the uninitiated. In keeping with all of the other football clubs in the J1 League, music plays a large role in match proceedings, with mass sing-alongs that can rival South American stadiums or the IPL cricket tournament for enthusiastic crowd participation. K-pop is a massive cultural influence in Japan, but while most other teams opt for a blend of this homegrown music form with Western pop, Vegalta Sendai goes for the more outrageous pastiche to be found in rock music. So a visit to Yurtec Stadium will find you surrounded by thousands of people rabidly singing and miming along to songs by the likes of Kiss and Twisted Sister – but with the lyrics changed to relate to football and their team. It's an experience virtually unique in the footballing world, so if you're planning a trip to Japan, make sure that some Vegalta Sendai tickets are on your list. Japanese football is well known for its wacky pomp and weird spectacle (to Western eyes), and it's unmissable. Get all the tickets you need on StubHub.
