Tribute to The Beatles - The Sessions at Abbey Road
April 2016 will see a historic show come to the Royal Albert Hall as the Abbey Road recording sessions are recreated, documenting the life, struggles and successes of one of the most iconic bands to come out of the UK and the music they made at the studios between 1962 and 1969. Coined a 'musical documentary', all instrumentation, arrangement and vocals will be performed identically to the original recordings. The idea is for it to accurately portray the sound of the band and looks to move away from visual similarity. Period equipment and 39 musicians will be used, playing within a full-sized reconstruction of Abbey Road's Studio Two. Any fan of this legendary group cannot afford to miss out on this unique experience - buy your Sessions at Abbey Road tickets now at StubHub.
Tribute to the Beatles - Background
Producer Stig Edgren has promised an honest, accurate and respectful re-creation of the band's time at Abbey Road, as they recorded well know albums such as Revolver and Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. They became one of the most iconic bands to come out the UK and saw international success, creating some of the most well-known songs in musical history. Fans will get a glimpse of the creative process, with everything from where the artists stood to the conversations they had accurately replicated in a live setting.
The show does not however attempt to be a look-alike but instead a sound-alike, using some of the best imitators of the band in the world. The band's old engineer Geoff Emerick is the show's creative consultant, with his book Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the Beatles serving as the main source material. With his help, this promises to be a fascinating insight into the band's time at the famous studio.
