Technically, the band is a "ska punk" or "ska core" band and really was the first ska band in general to garner mainstream success. In 1997, it released an album, Let's Face It, that went platinum and secured the Bosstones place as the most commercially successful ska band of all time. The Bosstones are also credited with the creation of a sub-genre to "ska" music called ska core.
