The High Kings Tickets
The innovators of "Folk 'n Roll," The High Kings have entertained audiences for years with their lively performances and musical craftsmanship. The four-man band consists of Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Darren Holden and Martin Furey. They continue to prove that folk music can be upbeat and exciting -- those who hold The High Kings tickets won't be let down.
Schedule
The High Kings enjoy performing live in front of both large and small audiences. Upcoming appearances include the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis and a concert at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen.
Trivia
Finbarr Clancy comes from a family steeped in Irish folk music tradition. His father was a member of the legendary Irish folk group The Clancy Brothers, with which Finbarr travelled extensively when he was young.
Darren Holden has always had a love for singing, even when he was just nine months old. The Mooncoin native got his start singing along with the church choir when he was just three, and was influenced by the Elvis Presley and Glen Campbell tunes his mom played on the radio.
Band
Dublin, Ireland's The High Kings have become one of the most beloved folk music acts in the United Kingdom. Their popularity can be attributed to their engaging harmonies, high-energy live performances and the consistent quality of their three full-length albums. While The High Kings have performed for numerous world leaders, including Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Irish President Michael D. Higgins, and United States President Barack Obama, they can also be found applying their unique brand of "Folk 'n Roll" in small, intimate club shows.
Breakthrough
Each member of the High Kings came from previously-established musical backgrounds, so the band had a built-in audience of music lovers from the very beginning. 'Rocky Road To Dublin' became the group's first standout track, due in large part to the band performing it on a St. Patrick's Day television special for PBS stations in the United States. The group quickly found itself booked for live performances all over the United States, including Live with Regis and Kelly, as well as the official St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Washington D.C. where The High Kings performed for President Obama. With a number of successful tours, including two shows at the Isle of Wight, and the launch of their breakthrough third album Friends For Life, The High Kings are poised to stay at the top of the folk music scene for the foreseeable future.
Hit Albums
The High Kings made an immediate impact on the Irish music scene with their debut self-titled album. The record peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard World Music chart and landed at #7 on the Irish Albums chart. Fans and critics alike were captivated by the band's ability to seamlessly blend a myriad of different instruments into one cohesive sound. With second album Memory Lane, The High Kings solidified their position as one of the world's top folk bands and convinced a new generation of fans to purchase The High Kings Tickets. With two platinum albums under their belt, The High Kings followed the success of their studio recordings with Live in Ireland, their first live album. A third studio record appropriately named Friends For Life continued the band's streak of world music hits, reaching the No. 3 position on the Billboard World Music charts.
Show Experience
Crowds have been clapping and singing along to The High Kings unique version of "Folk 'n Roll" for years. Dublin foursome never misses a chance to get the audience involved. Despite playing a combined thirteen instruments between a mere four musicians, The High Kings sometimes enlist the aid of additional talented artists, adding strings, drums, and other instruments into the mix for a large, impactful sound.
