Experience The Armed - a most mysterious band
The Armed has been described as many things, but predictable it certainly is not. One of the most mysterious, frustrating and absurdly talented bands in modern-day America, these hardcore punks have been churning out top-drawer songs since 2009. A live show is just as unpredictable as the band itself, but it's an experience you'll certainly never forget - don't miss out on buying or selling tickets to The Armed on StubHub.
Hardcore punk at its most experimental
Based in Detroit, The Armed released their first album in 2009, creating an instant furore for two reasons. The first was that they made all their music available for free download, citing the importance of getting it heard and the fact that people no longer place great monetary value on records. The second was that the sound of their music was really quite astonishing: falling somewhere between (experimental) hardcore punk and punk rock, The Armed's album vibrated with a furious energy and an absurd take on a genre that everyone had thought was already polarizing enough. Their subsequent releases, including a string of EPs, 2015's raging album 'Untitled' and the nostalgia-infused 'Only Love' showed that, when it comes to music, The Armed really don't care. They've got talent and they know it, and they're going to do things their way. It's impossible to know exactly what to expect when you get tickets to The Armed, but one thing is for certain: you'll witness an exciting, unstoppable performance and be left reeling by the sheer creative vision of these latter-day punks.
Watch The Armed live: an otherworldly experience
Aside from their ever-changing energy and sound, The Armed is a band that has put extraordinary efforts into making themselves unknowable. In the age of social media, The Armed's band members have gone to insane lengths to conceal their identities, employing a constantly changing line up, having actors stand in for the band, releasing fake press photos and performing undercover at open mic nights and basement gigs. Producer Kurt Ballou is certainly involved with the band, while their albums have featured drummers Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists and SUMAC) and Ben Koller (Converge), who claimed he was even tricked into recording the drum tracks for the 2018 The Armed album. Performing as an anonymous collective isn't easy (see Sleep Token or Ghost), but if you're prepared to go with the flow then you'll soon release what The Armed's message is: music is the focus, and it's there for everyone - no matter where you are or who produced it. Forget names, labels, genres and stereotypes and give yourself over entirely to an extreme punk experience: buy or sell your tickets for The Armed on StubHub now.
