The 1975 Biography - Hear Their Latest Music First
The quartet formed after meeting at Wilmslow High School in 2002, their shared love of music spurring them on to start performing punk songs for council organised teenage events. Frontman Matt Healy, guitarist Adam Hann, drummer George Daniel and bassist Ross MacDonald make up the group, who quickly started to craft a sound influenced by the likes of Michael Jackson and Brian Eno.
2012 saw the arrival of their first EP, Facedown, on UK indie label Dirty Hit. Healy and co. were then pushed into the limelight, with Huw Stevens' BBC Radio 1 Show championing their music and provided a lot of airtime. When second EP Sex was released in 2012, it would once again be backed by a hugely influential Radio 1 DJ, this time Zane Lowe. A breakthrough moment then arrived with third EP Music For Cars, and Top 20 hit 'Chocolate'. By the time of their self-titled debut, it was no surprise that they went straight to number one in the UK, and have started to conquer the American charts too. The foursome's sophomore record I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It topped charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
