The Star Sixes tournament had its inaugural event in 2017. All matches are indoor and the players are all ex-pros with various medals to their name and a strong fan following. In addition to the tournament matches, Star Sixes also offers entertainment during the four-day event. Between the thrilling matches and spectacular productions, the rousing tournament captivates people of all ages and is a family-friendly event.

The famous names to take the field at Star Sixes hail from England, Scotland, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Denmark, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria and China. In the future, other teams may be substituted based on which countries opt to participate. Each team has ten players, with six on the field and four on the bench at any given time. Those with Star Sixes tickets can look forward to seeing players of the calibre of Steven Gerrard, Robert Pires, Carles Puyol and Michael Ballack.

Star Sixes' tournament format

The first part of the Star Sixes tournament consists of a group phase, with three groups of four teams. Each team plays each other once in a 20-minute match. The top two teams from each group, along with the two top-scoring third-place teams from each group, advance to a quarter-final round. This round takes place on day three.

The winners of the quarter-finals then advance to the semi-finals, which take place on the fourth and final day of the tournament. The finals and third-place match also take place on the last day of the event. The knockout style of tournament play and penalty shoot-outs create an exciting atmosphere and stoke old rivalries between the iconic players.
