While Split may not be as eminent as its larger relative, the capital city of Zagreb, it's always been regarded as the country's coastal playground. It's an exquisite place to visit, crammed full of all manner of quaint minutiae in its museums and shops. Split's city centre has been declared a World Heritage Site, as its first claim to fame. The other is its popular music culture. It has probably contributed more musical artistes to Croatia's national roster than any other place in the country.
