Sister Act Glasgow tickets
Released in 1992, the comedy film Sister Act starred Whoopi Goldberg as a singer who pretends to be a nun while in protective custody from a mob boss. The story, in which Deloris Van Cartier transforms a dull convent choir into the musical talk of the town, inspired a sequel in 1993 as well as musical productions at Broadway and West End. Sister Act Glasgow brings the memorable characters and exciting musical numbers of this story back to the live theatre for an entertaining celebration of music as well as the universal power of friendship and sisterhood.
The hilarious, musical tale of sisterhood in Sister Act
The star of a story infused with unforgettable music, disco diva Deloris is on the mob's hit-list after witnessing a shooting. She turns to the police for help, finding herself in witness protection and eventually posing as a nun at a struggling convent. On discovering her musical background, the nuns put Deloris, in disguise as Sister Mary Clarence, in charge of their choir, which is in dire need of revival. Deloris brings the choir back to life, helping the nuns find their voices in her new takes on their hymns.
The choir, convent and church experience great changes with Deloris' influence, which puts the choir in the spotlight - and puts Deloris back in danger. Although she leaves the convent as the mob closes in, Deloris' new-found friendships with the nuns brings her back to continue helping them, in spite of the danger. For their part, the nuns show their loyalty to her, protecting her when the mob finally arrives at the convent.
Sister Act Glasgow - A new production of a hit musical
Sister Act Glasgow is a brand new production of the well-known musical. It is both directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood, an experienced theatre director better known for his role as a judge on the BBC show "Strictly Come Dancing." The return of this beloved comedy musical features Alexandra Burke, former X-Factor winner and lead in that nationwide tour of "The Bodyguard" musical, as Deloris Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarence and leading a talented, memorable cast.
Music - The soul of Sister Act
As with most Broadway musicals, the soundtrack for Sister Act is a compelling character all on its own. This dazzling production features the composing talents of Tony and Oscar-winner Alan Menken in original music. With its setting changed to the 1970s for the musical, Sister Act features the unique sounds of Motown, soul and disco to recreate the musical setting of Philadelphia during that time. Pairing nuns with big, glitzy, 70s numbers -- and cleverly crafted lyrics by Glenn Slater -- makes Sister Act one of the funkiest and funniest productions its audiences will ever see.
