A fun musical project turned into reality

The whole Seiler und Speer mania started when comedian and actor Christopher Seiler wanted to add some music to his caricature stage show in 2014. Even back then his texts mocked everyday situations, describing them in a witty way. Filmmaker Bernhard Speer had produced other projects for the comedian, and what started off as a fun new idea soon morphed into a tremendously successful career as musicians. Their debut album, "Ham Kummst", was released in 2015 as nothing more than a gag, but it was soon certified gold. By June 2016 it had received four-time-platinum status. Their newfound popularity was promptly used for good causes and Seiler und Speer were part of a concert held on the Viennese Heldenplatz in 2015 to support refugees coming into the country, called Voices For Refugees. Additionally, their single "Ham Kummst" rocketed to the top of the Austrian charts and remained there for five weeks, subsequently also reaching the German charts. The video to the hit single had counted more than 36 million clicks by 2019. To the great joy of their fans and music aficionados, the duo realised that their music career was more than just a fluke and started working on their second album, "Und Weida?", which was released in 2017. Only three days after its release, the album had received gold status and remained Number One in the Austrian charts for two whole weeks. The Amadeus Music Awards are the biggest honour an artist can receive in Austria, and Seiler und Speer can count several of the coveted awards on their shelves already. In 2016, after the roaring success of their debut album, they were nominated for a total of six Amadeus Awards, winning a total of two for "Songwriter Of The Year" and "Song Of The Year".
