Sam Simmons ticket
Do you like your comedy weird? If you thought that The Mighty Boosh was funny but just a little bit too grounded in reality, then strap yourself in and prepare to enter the topsy-turvy, weird and wonderful world of Sam Simmons. It's even better than the surreal thing...
All the way from down under, Sam Simmons was never the class clown when he was in school in Australia. Instead, he was quiet and serious, with disparate interests that included writing fantasy fiction, learning the cello and playing on an Aussie Rules football team. He trained to be a zoologist and worked for Melbourne Zoo for a few years before a joke got out of hand and led to him become a professional clown. In 2003, his friend's handbag was stolen from a pub, so Sam and some other friends put together a charity cabaret night to raise money for a new handbag. The whole thing was meant to be a laugh between friends, but Sam was such a huge hit that he decided he wanted to get back on stage and make people laugh again as soon as possible. Having never been a fan of comedy before, he went to see several stand-up comedy gigs and decided that it wasn't for him. Instead, he decided to do his own thing - leading to that unique brand of weird Sam Simmons humour.
In 2015, Sam Simmons achieved something that had previously been thought impossible: winning the two biggest awards in comedy in the same year on opposite sides of the world. His show Spaghetti for Breakfast first picked up the Barry Award at the Melbourne Fringe, which in itself is quite prestigious, but then six months later, Simmons went to Scotland and won Best Show at the Edinburgh Fringe, an award previously held by people like Stephen Fry, Daniel Kitson and Rich Hall. It was the end of a long road for Sam, who had conquered Australia with his hilarious morning shows on radio station Triple J then raised his profile in the UK with spots on "8 Out Of Ten Cats" and "Room 101." He has also appeared on "Conan" in the US and is currently living in LA, where he's working on a pilot for his first TV show. Is America ready for Sam Simmons?
In the past, buying Sam Simmons tickets often meant that you could end up being a part of the show itself, with his energetic audience interaction. These days, though, Sam likes to let the audience relax a lot more, although you may find yourself getting a cuddle from your genial host at some point if he gets lonely. Apart from that, you can relax in an intimate theatre setting and marvel as a man turns loaves of bread into shoes and enjoys spaghetti for breakfast. Brace yourself, it's going to get weird...
