Roo Panes TicketsA young soulful voice in a fine English tradition, Roo Panes is one of the most exciting talents to emerge in recent years. A growing fan base has been drawn to his soulful voice and skillful lyrics; Roo Panes tickets are becoming increasingly hard to find as he plays to larger, livelier audiences on the international scene.
If you are looking for Roo Panes tickets, you better move fast. Previous dates around the UK including London and Manchester all sold out quickly, and his short tour of The Netherlands has proved equally popular. We await with bated breath news of the Devon-born artist's return to Britain.
Roo's real name is Andrew. The nickname Roo is taken from childhood hero Winnie The Pooh, which featured the bouncy young character of Roo, the baby kangaroo. But it's not just because of the similarity between their names; singer Roo was a big fan of the game Pooh Sticks, which involves throwing sticks from a bridge. Roo fell into the water, as did his fictional namesake in one Winnie The Pooh story. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt, but the nickname stuck.
The classical English folk tradition is a hard scene in which to break ground. As soon as Roo announced himself to the world, he won instant comparisons to Nick Drake. Roo admits to being a big fan of both Nick Drake and Bob Dylan, but amazingly he claims to not be much of a music fan himself. He has been interested in playing since he was 12, when he first learned the trumpet. Once he eventually switched to guitar, he developed his signature sound, which involves a 12-string, plus quasi-classical arrangements of strings.
He's a good looking lad, that Roo, which is why he guested in a modeling campaign for Burberry alongside actress Gabriella Wilde. It was all part of the Burberry Acoustic sessions, part of the clothing brand's attempts to engage with emerging British artists. Panes actually wrote directly to the company and begged them to be part of the project. His offer was accepted, and suddenly he found himself right in the limelight.
Roo released his first EP, Once, back in 2012, prior to the Burberry campaign, which won him some interest in the folk scene. His long-awaited first album was released in 2014. Entitled Little Giant, it confirmed his strengths as a songwriter and performer. With his fragile, beautiful lyrics and complex picking style, the LP demonstrated the strength of the genre he has claimed as his own and named Classical Folk.
Moving, intimate, passionate; Roo Panes speak to the finest points of British folk with an electrifying atmosphere that you'll never forget. Roo brings his string quartet with him to most of his gigs, creating a rich sound to add texture to his voice and guitar. But whether you're seeing him with the band or playing solo acoustic, Roo Panes tickets are a definite must-have for the lover of elegiac folk."
