Rebelution is a reggae bank that incorporates elements of hard rock into most of its songs and performances. Rebelution has released seven full-length studio albums, three extended plays and one album of live music to date. Its debut album was one of the most downloaded digital albums of 2007, and the band got a Grammy nod for Best Reggae Album for its Falling Into Place release.
Mounting a Revolution
The five original members of Rebelution met on the campus of the University of California as students there in 2004. The band released its first EP independently between 2004 and 2005 while playing various local shows to build up some steam. Rebelution's first full-length studio release, Courage to Grow, came out in 2007 and ended up being the breakthrough the band needed to get the national spotlight. Most professional critics commented on the group's lyrics and on the way the musicians handled their instruments. While working on the next album, the band formed its own record label and used it as a springboard to launch the sophomore effort, Bright Side of Life. In addition to music, the band created its own India Pale Ale (IPA) in 2016.
