Get your Pippin Seattle tickets and join the ensemble as they take you on an acrobatic and spirited musical journey about the lessons we must learn to find true happiness.
The play is structured to go back and forth between the characters' and the actors' worlds as the ensemble addresses the audience throughout the show. It is their introduction in the opening number Magic to Do that tells the audience they are in for an adventure about Pippin, a boy prince on his quest for his life's true fulfilment (Corner of the Sky) and that the actor who plays Pippin is new to the role. From there Pippin travels across the land to fight against the Visgoths with his father, Charles, and then to the countryside to distract himself with meaningless sexual encounters. When he's tricked by his stepmother, Fastrada, to murder his father, Pippin must take over as king but even that does not give him the fulfilment he desires and he begs the lead ensemble player to bring his father back to life. Pippin continues his quest, and soon meets and falls for Catherine, a widow with a young son named Theo but Pippin rejects her to continue his search and Catherine is heartbroken. In the end, it is Catherine who saves Pippin from completing the story as written by jumping into a box of fire. Their punishment is to be banished from the play and the lead player and the ensemble abandon Pippin, Catherine and Theo. Will Pippin continue searching for an extraordinary life, or will he find it in a life with Catherine and Theo?
