Pimlico Raceway TicketsPimlico Raceway is a flat course in Baltimore, Maryland. It's home to the famous Preakness Stakes horse race in addition to other races, concerts and special events. It has been in operation since 1870 when a colt named Preakness first won the Dinner Party Stakes. Three years later, the famous race took on the horse's name to honor his success. Pimlico Raceway has undergone several changes in ownership; in 2011, it was bought by The Stronach Group. Many of the horses that visit Pimlico race on a one-mile dirt oval that has largely been unchanged since the early years of racing in Maryland. Can I bring children to Pimlico Raceway?Children are welcome at most Pimlico Raceway events. Children under five years of age can enter for free with a paying adult. In this case, they'll have to remain on an adult's lap during the Pimlico Raceway event. For the InField Fest, children under seven are given complimentary entry.
What time do the gates open?It varies depending on the event. On Black-Eyed Susan Day, gates open at 9 a.m. with the Turfside Terrace gate opening at 9:30 a.m. On Preakness Day, gates open at 8 a.m. with the Infield Fest, Preakness Village and Turfside Terrace gates opening at 9:30 a.m.
What are the transportation options?While you could drive and park at the facility, it can also be convenient to take public transportation to Pimlico Raceway events. You could take the metro, light rail or bus to get close to the raceway. If you end up taking the metro or light rail, look for an MTA shuttle that takes people from nearby stations to the raceway. There are numerous parking lots located on-site with clubhouse and VIP parking being the closest to the entry gates. A valet service near the clubhouse is also available.
What are the Pimlico Raceway seating arrangements like?There are many different tiers of seating. For some events, admission to some areas is free. For others, admission will always have a price. Concourse, Clubhouse and Grandstand seating all offer a quality experience with the Concourse being next to the Paddock, the Concourse being situated near the homestretch and the Grandstand providing great views of both the starting gate and homestretch. Premium seats offer an even better experience with access to exclusive areas and prime viewing locations.
