Paolo Nutini Biography - From Fish and Chips to Feel-Good Chart Topper

Born to Scottish and Italian parents, this performer came close to inheriting his family's fish and chip shop before his talents were encouraged by his grandfather and a teacher at school. After spending time as a roadie and accruing valuable experience behind the scenes in the music industry, his big chance arrived unexpectedly in 2003 at a David Sneddon concert. When the star was delayed in getting to the event an impromptu pop quiz saw Nutini given the chance to perform on stage where he promptly won over the crowd with his fresh, soul-infused sound.

After filling support slots for big names acts like The Rolling Stones and Amy Winehouse the 18-year-old singer signed to Atlantic Records and enjoyed his first taste of chart success with Top 5 track 'Last Request'. He continued to occupy the Top 30 with hits from his intimate debut album These Streets which itself entered the UK album charts at Number 3 - and spent the next few years performing sell-out tours throughout the UK and the rest of Europe.

The soul star's follow-up album, Sunny Side Up, debuted at Number 1 upon its release in 2009 and miraculously returned to the top spot six months later to welcome in 2010. His latest offering, Caustic Love, continues to see the laid-back star occupy the No. 1 spot and hits such as 'Scream (Funk My Life Up)' prompted critics to label it "the best UK R&B album since the 1970s blue-eyed-soul heyday". 2015 has also seen the star nominated for a coveted Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist.
