From Ozzfest to the Billboard Top 10
Formed in the San Ysidro neighborhood of San Diego, frontman Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel, MC Traa Daniels and drummer Wuv Bernardo first began performing as P.O.D. (Payable on Death) in the early 1990s. After shifting over 40,000 copies of their first three independently-released EPs, the group signed with Atlantic Records and issued their major label debut album, "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown", in 1999. Following tours with Crazy Town and Staind and an appearance at Ozzfest, the group contributed to the soundtracks of "Little Nicky" and "Any Given Sunday". Their mainstream breakthrough came in 2001 when "Satellite" reached the US Top 10 and spawned the Top 50 singles "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation". Two years later former Living Sacrifice guitarist Jason Truby replaced Marcos and the group subsequently peaked at No.9 on the Billboard 200 with their next three records, "Payable on Death", "Testify" and "When Angels & Serpents Dance". The latter also saw the original P.O.D. line-up restored, and the group later added to their discography with 2012's "Murdered Love", 2015's "The Awakening" and 2018's "Circles". You can both buy and sell P.O.D. tickets on StubHub.
One of the nu-metal scene's true survivors
P.O.D. may have emerged at the same time as Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach and Korn. But the group's live performances prove that their nu-metal past is only part of their story. Blending everything from rock, SoCal punk and hip-hop to Latin music and reggae into their powerful melting pot, the group ensure that the P.O.D. show is an eclectic and often unpredictable experience. Alongside their US Hot 100 hits "Alive", "Youth of a Nation" and "Goodbye for Now", and the Grammy-nominated "Portrait", the band pluck the best other tracks from their decade-spanning back catalogue, with "Boom", "Southtown" and "Set It Off" particular favourites. The group also regularly put their own spin on tracks by other artists when performing headline shows, with the likes of U2's "Bullet the Blue Sky", Sublime's "What I Got" and Rage Against the Machine's "Freedom" just a few given the P.O.D. treatment. If you haven't yet checked out one of the nu-metal scene's true survivors on stage, then check out the range of P.O.D. tickets on offer at StubHub.
