Neurosis Biography - Rock of All Styles
This Northern Californian trio - comprised of founder members Scott Kelly, Dave Edwardson and Jason Roeder - may have started as a punk outfit of sorts, but with gradual experimentation and exploration of different genres, they progressed toward a sound which defied categorisation. Incorporating elements of metal and ambient influences into their music, the band crafted a style wholly their own, going on to release the debut Pain of Mind in 1987.
Advancing through a range of styles, the group have turned their musical hands to hardcore punk, prog-rock, post-punk and industrial music as well as embracing a more surprising style: folk. Considered leaders in experimental music, their catalogue of "atmospheric sludge" has been thrilling audiences for well over two decades, as have their captivating concerts. Neurosis tickets remain a hot commodity among fans of live music, owing in part to the band's hallowed rock reputation and the spellbinding visuals which are integral to their shows.
In 2012, the now six-piece group released Honor Found in Decay, an apocalyptic collection of new songs received with much critical fanfare. They continue to tour with vigor, offering longtime fans the chance to see certifiable rock legends in action. Nothing if not prolific, there's surely more ammunition left in the arsenal of these hardworking metal innovators.
