Mudhoney Biography - Seattle Scene Kings
The roots of this critically-celebrated group stretch back to the 1980s - specifically a comedy band frontman Mark Arm formed with some friends called Mr. Epp and the Calculations. Eventually the singer took a more serious turn with his music, first forming Green River then their current outfit, naming themselves after a Russ Meyer movie. Emerging at the same time as influential acts such as Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr., they were soon a key player in a scene which would go on to influence the way bands picked up guitars for the next 20 years.
Although rarely troubling the charts, tracks like 'Touch Me I'm Sick' and 'Suck You Dry' became alternative anthems on both sides of the Atlantic, propelling the band to memorable spots at UK festivals in the early '90s. Meanwhile, a prolific approach to recording has yielded 10 albums of material over the period, with Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge and Piece of Cak both crashing the UK Top 40.
After memorably opening for fellow grunge torchbearers Pearl Jam in 2011, the band's live following is as big as ever. Check them out next time they hit the UK - buy Mudhoney tickets on StubHub, part of the world's largest ticketing marketplace.
