The Mounties are a Canadian indie rock band. They released their first single, 'Headphones', in 2013, which was an instant success.
The Mounties will be playing in Berlin, Germany at the Magnet Club. From there they travel to Wein, Austria to perform at the Chelsea Theatre. Their next stop includes the Zoom Theatre in Frankfurt, Germany and the Luxor in Cologne. The band then makes its way to Zurich, Switzerland for a performance at the Ziegel oh Lac. Then it's back to Germany for two performances, one in Stuttgart at the Schocken and the other in Munich at the Strom Linieneclub.
Hawksley Workman announced his new band in a unique way. In January of 2013, he posted on Twitter that he was staring a band called Mounties with his friends Steve Bays and Ryan Dahle. At that point Steve Bays was the lead singer for Hot Hot Heat, and Ryan Dahle was in the bands Age of Electric and Limblifter. Apparently, the conversation between the three about starting the band began at the Juno Music Awards a few years earlier.
The Mounties is made up of three musicians: Hawksley Workman, Steve Bays and Ryan Dahle. Workman is a Canadian singer-songwriter who plays multiple instruments. Workman is also a skilled producer and engineers most of his own recordings and has produced albums for other artists. Hawksley has released a total of 11 albums during his long and well-respected career. Steve Bays is known for his key boarding skills and is also an accomplished drummer. Ryan Dahle is also a Canadian musician, best known for his work in the bands Age of Electric and Limblifter. Dahle is a singer and instrumentalist, and also spends time as a producer.
The Mountains big breakthrough came with their first album, Thrash Rock Legacy, released in March of 2014 under the Light Organ Records label. The album was an almost-immediate success and was on the long list for nominations for the Polaris Music Prize in 2014. Along with that nomination, the group was voted SIRIUSXM Emerging Music Artist of the Year at the SIRIUSXM Indie Awards.
The Mounties currently have one album, Thrash Rock Legacy, available for purchase. The album comes as both a CD and an LP, and features 14 original songs by the band. Some of the songs on the Thrash Rock Legacy album include: 'Pretty Headphones', 'Respectable', 'Tokyo Summer', 'If the Dance Catches On', 'The Twig & The Tree', 'Made Up My Mind', 'Minimum Effort' and 'Late Nights'.
