Growing up in Rock Island Illinois, Elizabeth Maurus displayed a keen interest in singing from a young age, appearing in her high school musicals and eventually performing in clubs around Colorado State University as she studied for a diploma. Her big break came when retro rock legend Lenny Kravitz requested that she be his opening act for his Love Revolution tour in 2008, after hearing her music on social networking site MySpace.
