Krewella tour dates
Incorporating elements of hardstyle, house, dubstep, trap and electronic rock into their explosive, energetic songs, Krewella is one of the hottest new EDM acts on the scene. While originally formed as a trio with Kris "Rain Man" Trindl, Krewella is now comprised of Northbrook, Illinois sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousef. Consistently charting among the top albums and songs on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic charts, there's no question that Krewella is a force to be reckoned with. Catch this dynamic electronic dance duo live at venues across the nation on the Krewella tour.
Krewella's roots go back, as they do in so many musical success stories, to high school. Attending Glenbrook North High School together in the mid-2000s, Pakistani-American sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousef formed a musical partnership with their friend Kristopher "Rain Man" Trindl. By 2007, Krewella had been conceived, although the group didn't actually release any of its work until 2011.
June 8, 2010 marked an important day for the young trio of musicians. On that day, they made a pact to give up on any intentions of pursuing further education or careers and pour all of their energy into their musical ambitions. All three still wear tattoos reading "6-8-10" to commemorate the agreement.
Their dedication paid off, and by December of the following year, the band had been offered a record deal with Monstercat. They released their first EP, Play Hard, in June 2012, and watched as it rose to No. 6 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. One single from the EP, "Alive," reached No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. A second EP, Play Harder, followed in December 2012.
2012 also saw the expansion of the band's live performance circuit. Krewella began to play many more festivals, becoming a fixture on the scene after headlining performances at major EDM festivals such as Stereosonic, Electric Daisy Carnival, Paradiso, Sunburn, Spring Awakening and Ultra. At the International Dance Music Awards that year, Krewella won recognition as the Best Breakthrough Artist of the year.
Krewella's first studio album and beyond
Krewella finally got around to releasing its first full-length studio album in September 2013 with the arrival of Get Wet. The album rose to No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album also spawned a number of extremely successful singles, including "Killin' It," "Alive," "Live for the Night" and "Enjoy the Ride."
In 2014, Trindl departed Krewella to pursue independent projects, and the Yousef sisters continued to produce music for Krewella alone. Most recently, they released another EP, Ammunition, in May 2016.
