Go on a journey of glam-folk-grunge discovery with Kolars
Kolars is a band who will introduce you to a few new musical genres – and if you don't believe us, try getting your head around terms like glamabilly and space blues. Or how about desert disco? These are names that have been variously applied to the sounds they create. Don't be misled though: at heart they play an inventive, pretty solid form of up-tempo bluesy pop-rock, with large doses of country glam rock. So make your acquaintance with something fresh and imaginative – go and buy or sell Kolars tickets on StubHub today.
Country twang meets '90s grunge and glam rock
Kolars is actually a duo formed by Rob Kolar and Lauren Brown, who are a couple of very interesting musicians indeed. Together they're a singing electric guitarist and – you should pause for this – a tap-dancing drummer. Despite the colourful descriptions of their music above, they've probably been most accurately described as a combination of '90s grunge, early glam rock à la Slade, and the kind of country twang that is associated with every form of Americana you could imagine. They were previously members of He's My Brother, She's My Sister – a folk band that was also equal parts country punk. The duo got a break around the same time as other local eclectic LA fringe scene outfits like Smoke Season and Lauren Ruth Ward, both of whom have also gone on to wider success. They've specialised in music festivals for the better part of their live schedule over the years, so that's where you'll find them at their best when you're looking for Kolars tickets.
Exploring many branches off their musical roots
You can think of Kolars in the same spirit as a band like The White Stripes, the brilliantly unconventional duo of Meg White and Jack White, more latterly of The Raconteurs. They're a married couple, rather than siblings, but in many other respects, they are strongly reminiscent of that inventive white and red striped outfit of the '90s. They have the same sense of musical exploration and irreverence, while at the same time displaying a deep love for and understanding of their traditional folk roots. Sonically, they're also in the same sort of realm as long-standing Japanese girl country rockers Shonen Knife. If you have an appreciation of any of the many musical formats that this duo weaves into their music, then you're in for a wonderful time when you get Kolars tickets on StubHub.
