Khalid: R&B singer visits UK in 2018

Since the release of his quadruple-platinum debut single "Location" in 2016, Khalid has racked up five Grammy nominations and collaborated with the likes of Calvin Harris, Future, Lorde and Post Malone. Quite a CV for a 20-year-old. Khalid: meteoric rise of young star

Born in Georgia, Khalid Robinson spent his childhood in various locations across the USA as well as six years in Heidelberg, Germany because of his mother's career in the military. In high school he studied singing and musical theatre and the family moved back to the United States when he was 16. Posting his early musical offerings to SoundCloud, Khalid got his big break in July 2016 when he reached number two on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart. Soon, "Location" began charting, and Khalid was featured in the "Artists to watch out for" lists of Rolling Stone and Buzzfeed.

By early-2017 Khalid was working with the likes of Brasstracks, Kendrick Lamar and Logic (with whom he collaborated on the single "1-800-273-8255"), while also selling out a run of 21 US shows for his Location tour. Riding a wave of hype, Khalid released his debut studio album American Teen in March 2017. The record was a huge critical and commercial success, selling over 1.2 million copies to date and going on to become the 10th-biggest album of 2017 in the US.
