Kerri Watt's career milestones
To many fans of music, Watt is best known for her single “Long Way Home”. This track received a great boost when it was chosen by BBC Radio 2 to be a part of their main playlist when it first came out in 2015. A remix issued by Oliver Nelson also helped it to become better known and to raise Watt’s profile. This version of her song gained millions of plays on streaming sites in its own right. Watt also performed the song on national television, singing it with the presenter Aled Jones on the ITV show The Weekend.
In 2016, Watt had another success with her single “The Wild”. This track was also playlisted by the BBC for a month. The musician appeared live on independent radio stations around this time to promote the song. This included a memorable session in Glasgow in March of that year.
In July 2017, Watt opened a couple of shows for Coldplay during their A Head Full of Dreams tour. Alongside the English band Embrace, Watt took to the stage at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. These stadium gigs were among the biggest in her career up to that point, marking her out as a singer with future star potential. Later that year, Watt announced that she would release a new single, “Old School Love”, which would be distributed by East West Records, a division of the major label Warner Music Group.
