Joseph tour dates
Joseph is a Portland-based folk band comprised of sisters Natalie, Meegan and Allison Closner. With rich, delightfully haunting harmonies and poetic lyrics, the Joseph tour brings this trio to stages across the US. Originally performing before small audiences in intimate settings, today Joseph tours with artists like James Bay and Michael Kiwanuka.
The group’s music achieves a vocal alchemy of comforting beauty with bright pop tunes balanced by gentle ballads as they perform songs like the hit “White Flag” that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs Chart and made Spotify’s US Viral Top 10 immediately following its release. Even as the group’s shows move to larger venues to accommodate its fast-growing international fan base, the sisters continue to deliver the same soulful performances that have made Joseph tickets a hot commodity.
Joseph self-released their first album Native Dreamer Kin in 2014, and it didn’t take long before they signed with ATO Records. That same year, Beautiful Eulogy featured Joseph in “According to God” on their album Instruments of Mercy.
The band released their second album, I’m Alone, No You’re Not, in 2016, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Songs Chart. The group made its television debut performing “White Flag” on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and followed with appearances on CONAN and CBS This Morning. Joseph tour dates include stops at popular festivals like Bonnaroo, Glastonbury and Sasquatch, as well as world-renowned concert halls like the Radio City Music Hall and the Ryman Auditorium.
Joseph lead singer Natalie Closner began her music career as an aspiring solo artist. In search of a creative boost, she and her sisters, Meegan and Allison, formed a band and discovered a natural gift for harmony, songwriting and performance. They named their band Joseph after their grandfather Jo, the Eastern Oregon town they hail from and the famous biblical figure of the same name.
Their music began with the soft, spiritual sounds of three voices, an acoustic guitar and a foot drum. With big voices and the magic that comes from siblings who perform together, they built a loyal following that grew quickly with the release of their first album. In 2015, they paired with musician and producer Mike Mogis, who added electric guitars and brilliant percussion to enhance the heartfelt emotion of their music. They also teamed up with the Belle Brigade’s Ethan Gruska to co-write the music for I’m Alone, No You’re Not to include bigger production sounds while remaining true to the mesmerizing vocal harmonies that led to their quick success.
