Jay Chou was born in Taiwan, where he was originally picked up in 1998, for his talent as a music writer and composer. After two years at Alfa Music he learned the ins and outs of studio production, where only then did his talents really came into their own. Passing a challenge given to him by his boss to write 100 songs, he was given leave to record his debut album. Suffice to say, in 2000 Chou released his debut album, Jay, achieving success from the beginning, with many critics praising Chou for his mixing of Chinese and Western style music, fusing a number of genres within the album.

Committed and hard working, Chou continued to record and tour a number of studio albums over the following years, pumping out almost an album a year for the next decade. It wasn't just in the studio that Chou found success when in 2009, Jay Chou proved his worth as a performer. Breaking 11 Australian musical performance records, his live shows featured some of the highest productions costs to date, and boasted the largest audience of that year (beating both Beyoncé and the Eagles)! Alongside a successful music career, Jay Chou can be credited for a number of acting roles, recently crossing over to Western cinema in his most notable role as Now You See Me 2's magic shop owner Mr Li.
