James Vincent McMorrow Biography - From Irish Pubs to London's Roundhouse

Growing up in Malahide, County Dublin this aspiring musician started as a keen drummer, drawing on the heavier sounds of At the Drive-In and Glassjaw. His acoustic leanings started age 19 when he was inspired by Donny Hathaway's 'I Love You More Than You Will Ever Know' and picked up a guitar. After listening to bands like Sufjan Stevens and Band of Horses he began writing his own material, often favouring female singers due to the falsetto nature of his own voice. After receiving a warm reception on playing a number of small gigs in his local area he set out to record an album - the results of which would become his critically acclaimed debut Early in the Morning.

Labelled 'the next Bon Iver' after some sensational live performances - including a TV appearance on Later... With Jools Holland - the talented Irishman looks firmly set for great things. His version of Steve Winwood's 'Higher Love' went on to be featured in both TV advertisements and on movie soundtracks, hinting at great things for his next LP. Sophomore effort Post Tropical hit the number two spot in Ireland and incorporated an electronic sound, hip-hop beats and '60s soul influences. In 2016, he's branched out even further, collaborating with Kygo on single 'I'm in Love'.
