"Jakob Tickets
True music aficionados will appreciate the heavy and emotional transitions of the famed New Zealand band Jakob. Playing countless smash hits such as "Converter" and "Magna Carter" on their upcoming tour, the band's reputation continues to precede them as a growing fan base develops around the world. Although the band's sound has evolved and changed with each album, the union between the members can easily be seen and heard when they take the stage to create what has often been described as an enigmatic and moody instrumental rock music experience.
Schedule
Jakob is scheduled for an extensive tour throughout Europe until late summer, with additional dates to be announced. The band plans on performing in multiple venues located in France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Venues on their list include Bleach in Brighton, Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds, Jubez in Karlsruhe, Ebullution in Bulle, Innsbruck in Austria and more!
Trivia
From 2008 to 2009, band members Maurice Beckett and Jeff Boyle frequently worked on other projects. At the time, Maurice was working on a solo project titled Desbot, while Jeff worked together with H. Walker of Avotor and Kerretta on the debut LP Knowing from his project, Mean.
Band
Originally formed in 1998, Jakob is the culmination of guitarist Jeff Boyle, drummer Jason Johnston and bassist Maurice Beckett. They got their start performing in pubs for local bands and soon went off on tour, which led to the release of an eponymous EP and a limited release single titled "Erfo." From there, they worked with David Holmes on their next release, and you could say the rest was history. They have previously been compared to bands such as Sonic Youth or Mogwai, but Jakob's unique approach to the post-rock music genre is often reflected in a lack of vocals or sampling.
Breakthrough
Jakob's first studio album Subset of Sets was released in 2001, but was then followed by an inactive period of several months where the band didn't perform together and didn't see each other. They would later regroup in 2003 to work on new music, which ultimately led to a second album that has been widely regarded as the band's breakthrough release.
Hit Albums
Jakob has released four studio albums and two EPs over the years, in addition to numerous singles. The band's second full-length album titled Cale:Drew has often been referenced as a fan favourite and was followed with an extensive international tour. The third album, Solace, was well-received by critics and fans despite how it revealed a darker representation of the band's music.
Show Experience
As most fans agree, having a pair of Jakob tickets can be truly valuable as the experiences associated with seeing the band live are incomparable to anything else. Concert settings allow for fans to hear Jakob's music in its rawest format, as it was meant to be appreciated without the inclusion of studio elements. Stages at Jakob performances are bare, with nothing more than the instruments, the artists and lights shining right on them. The simplicity of the setup allows for fans to fully focus on and enjoy the music. Moreover, the band has often been known to play at smaller venues where fans can truly enjoy the intimate setting and remarkable acoustics.
