Singer-songwriter Jacob Banks is one of the most exciting names in British urban music. Best known for being the first unsigned act to appear on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, he has released several successful singles and EPs and has performed his unique blend of soul, R&B and hip-hop in front of devoted fans around the world. Both as a headliner and supporting act, Banks has embarked on tours spanning numerous cities across Europe and North America. Recent Jacob Banks tour dates have included appearances at major international music festivals, including the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in New York and the Electric Forest Festival in Michigan.
Jacob Banks' background
Born in Nigeria and raised in Birmingham, England, from his early teens, Banks started singing, songwriting and playing the guitar at age 20. Driven by his passion for music and encouraged by a close friend, Banks began performing at open mic nights and quickly captured attention with his soulful sound.
Banks later signed to the record label Full + Bless and released his debut EP, The Monologue, in April 2013. The second track from the EP, "Worthy," was aired on BBC Radio 1 by DJ Zane Lowe and went on to receive additional plays on several other radio stations, including 1Xtra, XFM and 6Music.
After gaining traction in the music industry, Banks performed his first headline show at St Pancras Old Church in London. He has also supported several big-name artists on their U.K. tours, including Emeli Sande on her Our Version of Events Tour and Chase & Status on their Brand New Machine Tour.
Banks dropped his second EP, The Paradox, through Full + Bless in July 2015. The eight-track release includes "Monster," a collaboration with rapper Avelino. Banks then signed to Interscope Records in September 2016 and released his third EP, The Boy Who Cried Freedom, in April 2017. He embarked on his first international headline tour, Into The Wild, in June 2017.

Banks has featured on several hit singles, including Wretch 32's "Doing OK," Sigma's "Redemption" and Chase & Status' "Alive." The latter peaked at No. 4 on the U.K. Dance Singles Chart and No. 21 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart. Banks also provided the vocals for Seeb's track, "What Do You Love." The song charted in several countries, peaking at No. 2 in the production trio's homeland of Norway.
Some of Banks' own tracks, including "Worthy," "Move with You" and "Unholy War," have featured in critically-acclaimed TV series, such as Suits and The Blacklist: Redemption, and in video games, including FIFA 15 and Need for Speed Payback.
