Des Moines, Iowa may not have an NFL team, but football fans in the city are more than happy to satisfy their appetite for professional football action by attending Iowa Barnstormers Arena Football League games. The Barnstormers are looking to make a push during the second half of the AFL season that will have them ending up on top of the Central Division standings and they will be looking for all of the support they can get from their loyal fans when they take on all of the best teams in the AFL at home. The team have been enormously popular since they first became a part of the AFL back in 19945 and this year's squad is more than capable of bringing plenty of excitement. The Barnstormers have several more games at Wells Fargo Arena as the 2014 AFL season draws to a close and they will be looking to pile up as many wins as possible in order to charge up the division and conference standings in hopes of landing a playoff berth. On June 14th the Tampa Bay Storm come to the Well and the Barnstormers could gain some serious momentum by knocking off the Storm who are a traditional AFL powerhouse. Two weeks later on the 28th the Philadelphia Soul come to Des Moines for another important late season match up. July 19th brings the Pittsburgh Power to the Well to take on the Barnstormers in a game that could end up deciding the playoff fates of both teams. The final home game of the regular season takes place on July 26th when the San Jose SaberCats come to town. This is your chance to applaud the Barnstormers for another excellent season and also to hopefully cheer them on as they get ready to enter the postseason.

Behind the arm of quarterback Carson Coffman who has been lighting up the scoreboard with big time throws to the likes of Marco Thomas and Darius Reynolds, the Barnstormers have fielded one of the best offenses in the league. Of course the impressive defensive plays by Mike Lewis, James McClinton, and others has also helped the Barnstormers earn some big wins. This has been one of the most exciting seasons in the history of the Iowa Barnstormers and you will want to be in the Wells Fargo Arena as the regular season comes to its thrilling conclusion.

On game day at Quicken Loans Arena, the fans file in and take their seats when the cheering and chanting begins. The Arena Football League is the best of the best when it comes to indoor football in the United States and is the third-longest running professional football league in North America, behind only the National Football League and the Canadian Football League. Each of the fourteen teams play 18 regular season games with two bye weeks all the while trying to position themselves for a spot in the playoffs where they can hopefully make a run to the Arena Bowl. The league has been so successful that for nine years it even had a developmental league, the af2. To date the Tampa Bay Storm lead the way as the most successful franchise in league history having won five Arena Bowl championships. The Iowa Barnstormers first joined the AFL in 1994, but the first incarnations of the Barnstormers moved to New York to become the Dragons in 2000. Another Barnstormers team was awarded to the city as an af2 franchise the following year but disbanded after one season. In 2008 another af2 Barnstormers team began operations, and this team emerged in 2010 as a new AFL team following the league's reorganization.
