Harry Styles' biography

The story of One Direction's rise to success is one of monumental proportions, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a teenager out there who doesn't know who the band. As for Styles himself, hailing from the small town of Redditch, Styles moved with his family to Holmes Chapel in Cheshire when he was a child, where he predominantly grew up. Considering his humble beginnings, it's understandable that a career in music wouldn't look likely, even though he would constantly sing as a child. The only time he came close to stardom, was winning a local Battle of the Bands contest. This, of course, all changed when Styles auditioned as a solo candidate on hit talent show X Factor. Initially failing the "Boys" category, Styles joined up with the rest of the band that would make up One Direction, on the suggestion of guest judge Nicole Scherzinger.

Releasing his eponymous debut album, Harry Styles, in May 2017, at only 23, Styles has proved there is still much demand for the artist. Considering his popularity within the band, lamenting One Directioners will no doubt be heavily awaiting the new album, while critics are eager to add their own two cents, with many having already heard the album. Keeping in mind Styles' affinity towards the rock genre, Originally wanting to call the album, Pink, due to the Clash's Paul Simonon once saying "Pink is the only true rock and roll colour." Likewise, the album took a much slower approach in its creation, something Styles said that was never possible with One Direction. Of course, what most fans will be looking forward to seeing is Harry Styles' finding his own voice, and seeing how that matures over the years, much in the same way that artists such as Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams have done, since departing their own bands.
