Giorgio Moroder Tickets
A living legend within the world of electronic dance music, Giorgio Moroder continues to perform his pioneering brand of synthesizer-driven disco more than forty years after the release of his first single, 1969's "Looky Looky." Moroder's new found recognition comes via his collaboration with Daft Punk, which has exposed his unique music to a new generation of fans.
Giorgio Moroder tickets are available for exciting upcoming shows in Germany, Italy, Canada and the United Kingdom. He'll be performing at the Melt! Festival in Gräfenhainichen, Estathe Market Sound in Milan, the Pop Montreal Festival and KOKO in London.
In addition to his pop and disco work, Moroder has had an equally successful career as a composer for film. He's scored dozens of films, including the classic Wolfgang Petersen fable The NeverEnding Story, Adrian Lyne's Flashdance and the Paul Schrader horror classic Cat People. Moroder also created an original score to the iconic silent film Metropolis, directed by Fritz Lang and set in Weimar-era Germany. He also produced the soundtracks for American Gigolo and Foxes, and composed the original theme to Midnight Express. His score for that film won him an Academy Award.
Giorgio Moroder has worked in so many different electronic-inflected styles and collaborated with so many iconic artists that it's impossible to neatly summarize his musical output. In the 1970s, he created iconic disco tracks in collaboration with Pete Belotte. He went on to notable collaborations with The Human League's Phillip Oakey, Donna Summers (with whom he won a Grammy in 1997) and Kenny Loggins. He's also worked with David Bowie, Janet Jackson and Blondie. More recently, in addition to his critically acclaimed and highly successful collaborations with Daft Punk, he has worked with other younger stars such as Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue.
Giorgio Moroder's initial releases were on Ariola Records, which dominated the dance record market in the late 60s and into the 1970s. He went on to produce numerous number one hits over the next few years, including the 1972 single "Son of My Father," released when he was only 22 years old. Five years later, "From Here to Eternity" became another international hit, dominating air play and disco clubs during the summer of 1977.
Moroder has won four Grammy awards, most recently for Daft Punk's 2014 hit album Random Access Memories. He won the Grammy for Best Original Score for his Flashdance soundtrack release. His first three albums - 1969's That's Bubblegum - That's Giorgio, 1970's Giorgio, and 1972's Son of My Father - helped define the disco genre internationally. He reached the Billboard charts again in 2015 with his single "Deja Vu," a collaboration with Sia.
Given how rarely he performs these days, Giorgio Moroder tickets are hard to find. His concerts promise an experience that's simultaneously nostalgic and highly contemporary, as he mixes hits from across his career with his newest work produced in collaboration with today's hottest young pop stars. His concerts encourage dancing, and he's most at home on major festival stages.
