Originally Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Hamilton, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello and Dinah Jane Hansen entered the 2012 edition of The X Factor USA as solo artists, but they were united by Simon Cowell to compete in the 'groups' category. Despite finishing third place behind Carly Rose Sonenclar and country singer Tate Stevens, their musical career kicked off with debut single 'Miss Movin' On' and their debut EP Better Together.

After cutting their teeth with a support slot for Demi Lovato on her 2014 tour, the group began recording their first studio album Better Together, which contained the massive singles 'Sledgehammer' and 'Bo$$'. Full of soaring vocals, lush melodies and powerfully catchy choruses, it was no surprise to see the record certified gold.
