Evans has three other children from two other marriages -- Chyna, born in 1993, Joshua born in 1998 and Ryder born in 2007. Interestingly, Evans has never met her biological father.

Evans was born in Florida but grew up in New Jersey, moving to Los Angeles, California at 20 years old with dreams of a singing career. Faith Evans' breakthrough came when she was signed with Sean Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment, becoming the first woman to ever perform under the label. From 1995 to 2001 with Bad Boy, she released three platinum albums. The first, Faith, was released in 1995, the second Keep the Faith was released in 1998, and the third, Faithfully, was released in 2001. In 2003, she moved on, signing with Capitol Records and then eventually releasing an album with Prolific/E1 Music, an independent record label, seven years later.

Though this singer has released many hit albums, Faith is among the most notable. It was certified Platinum in 1996 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Chart. Keep the Faith went Platinum in 1998 and made it all the way to the 6th position on the Billboard 200 Chart. Faithfully made it to No. 2 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Chart and No. 14 on the Billboard 200 Chart, also going Platinum. The First Lady, Evans' fourth album, sold more copies than any of her other albums, especially in the first weeks of sales. It made it to No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Charts and No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
